So how hard is it to use peel and sticks. Here are some installation tips:
Thoroughly clean wall and make sure it is free of moisture. For recentlypainted walls let paint "thouroughly dry" for 10 to 15 days before to installing decals. Even if new paint feels dry, it may nevertheless need to settle and thoroughlydry. Peel and Stick Wall Decals are not recommended on "Orange Peel" textured walls, over cinder blocks, very textured and permeable surfaces, wallpaper or fragile surfaces. Wall stickers are OK to use on tile providing the surface is clean and completelydry during installation. Be certain the design element does not cover grout area as water could possiblyleak under and damage the adhesive. Apply onto shower walls, as long as they are placedsnugly onto the surface so moistureis unable toreach under the sticker. Once applied, RoomMates will notmove even if sprayed by shower.
Vinyl wall decals must not be placed in a dishwater or microwave and they shouldn't be placed on rugs, fabrics and any other textiles. Textile fibers may stick to the adhesive and destroy the product. Also, don'tposition at the bottom or inside the tub. Water could filterunder the design element too easily and would damage the adhesive. When putting on, make sure you start from one side (for the border) or the top (for the appliques) of each element. Keep the other parts of the element at a distance from the wall/surface. Slowly go straight down over the design with your hand and smooth the element onto surface (and press the bubbles out as you go). Once put on you should be able to move any remaining bubbles out by pressing/smoothing them out of the element. If the difficultycontinues (this would solelyoccur with the giant decals), you can punch a tiny (invisible to the eye) hole with a pin to push the air out.
In all, it is alwaysmost effective to check wall decals in an inconspicuous area. If the surface is textured, performance could be significantlydiminished. Make certain surface is clean of dust and dirt or you may compromise the adhesive and wreck the item. |
